Leo of the Year

Leo of the Year!

Sheri Anderson, the Leos Coordinator for the Easton Lions Club’s Leos Club has worked very hard this past year with Malathy Sankaran, the Oliver Ames Leos Club Advisor to vitalize the Leos program.

This year the Leos Club held a wonderful holiday party in conjunction with the Multicultural Club serving foods from all over the world… held a Trick or Treat So All Can Eat Food Drive and collected an entire vanload of food for the Easton Food Pantry… raised money to make sandwiches for over 65 lunches for the homeless in Brockton… washed, sorted and prepared over 400 pairs of glasses that were donated… raised money by selling Hilliard’s Candy for Haitian relief… raised money by canning for eye research… and MORE!

Malathy Sankaran, Leos Advisor presents Fannie Fouron “Leo of the Year” with Sheri Anderson, Leos Coordinator

At our General Club meeting on May 11th the Fouron family was invited to be our guests.  Unbeknownst to Fannie Fouron, there was a very special reason for the invitation… Fannie was honored as Leo of the Year.

Sheri Anderson says: “This year’s Leo of the Year honor was awarded to Fannie Fouron, a Junior at Oliver Ames High School.  Fannie participated in almost every activity the club did this year. From making sandwiches for the homeless, to eye glass washing, going door to door collecting canned goods for the Easton Food Pantry through the Trick or Treat So All Can Eat event, and decorating for the Holiday Party. Fannie was usually one of the first to show up and almost always one of the last to leave. Fannie was an obvious choice for Leo if the Year because she really embodies the Lions motto, ‘We Serve!’ Fannie has a gentle, humble demeanor. She serves not for the recognition but rather because it’s who she is. She’s smart, kind and responsible.

Fannie’s greatest impact was at the Mansfield Food Pantry. Fannie served over 150 hours this year alone at the pantry.

Service runs in the family. Fannie’s brother, Fabrice, who just graduated from OA this year was also active in the Leo’s club.

Fannie is, simply put, a wonderful human being. She’s always asking, ‘What can I do to help?’ Then gets right to it with a great attitude and a big smile.”
