2018 Peace Poster Contest Winners Easton Lions Easton Middle School
For Immediate Release: November 17, 2018 – Easton, MA

by Lorri Ventura – Easton Lions Peace Poster Chairperson

The Easton Lions Club is pleased to announce the local winners of this year’s International Peace Poster contest. Sixth grade artists at Easton Middle School submitted their art representing a “Kindness Matters” theme. Winners are:

  • Olivia Palm — First Place;
  • Anthony Rhodes — Second Place; and
  • Andrew Whiteside — Third Place.

Students worked under the supervision of EMS art teachers Kristen Kelley, Kathie Hayes, and student teacher Matt Leonard to complete their entries. Easton Lions contest chairperson Lorri Ventura explained that Olivia Palm’s first place poster has been forwarded to a district-wide level of competition.

“Ms. Palm’s poster was among more than 450,000 entries submitted worldwide in the annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest. There were over 40 entries from EMS students, with so many excellent posters that club members really had a hard time identifying just three winners.” Ventura noted that all three student winners will be recognized for their achievement at an upcoming Easton Lions Club meeting.

Olivia’s poster will be featured on the cover of the Easton Lions Holiday Festival Program Book.  The Festival takes place on December 1 and 2.  Copies of the booklet will be distributed to local business and at the ticket booth during the festival.
