Friends, another Holiday Festival is behind us, and it was one for the record books! Mother Nature conspired with us to create the perfect non-storm… record warmth fueled a big turnout, and we put over $2500- into our resources to help others.
On Saturday, January 9, we had another warm day, and a large crew elected to forego the daily workout at the gym, instead coming to the Rockery to break down the decorations. Many thanks to Stan Borgeson, Tony Cabral, Dick Connolly, Bob Cunha, Nick Fornaro, Richard Freitas, Bob Grella, Brian Hoffman, Steve Hoffman, Mark Ingalls, Joshua Jacobs, Scot Kudcey, Henry Narsasian, Ed Pires, Seryah Selmon and Don Sierra. Our backs were tested when the Bobcat proved to be unavailable (mechanical failure), and we had to load the display houses “the old fashion way”!
So, we’re making plans for the future of the Holiday Festival. There will be a review meeting on Tuesday, January 26 at the VFW (7:00 PM – 8:00), and we’ll discuss what needs to be improved. All are welcome.
As a club we need to determine what direction the Holiday Festival needs to go in from here. As we approach our 30th annual event, I want to share with you that I am stepping down as the Festival Chairman (19 years is enough!). Of course, I’ll stay involved, and lend whatever insight I have to the success of the next event. If a Lion is considering stepping forward to take on this role, I’d be glad to answer any questions you have.
With the deepest appreciation, I want to thank this wonderful Club (and especially the Holiday Festival Steering Committee) for the ideas, time, muscle, and hours invested in this fun event we manage for our Town!
