President’s Message – 85th Anniversary

Matthew Cioffi winter 2015-16.

Matthew Cioffi winter 2015-16.

Vince Lombardi, a legendary coach, once said “The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.”

Hard work, dedication and doing our best describes who the Easton Lions are and have been over the past 85 years.  As I learn more about our club’s history, I am astounded at the projects the Lions have done in our community through both good times and bad.  Ed’s article from 1931-1945 gives a glimpse of what trials they encountered.  It shows how Lions supported their neighbors, through hard work and determination.  Stay-tuned, as Ed and Marion have additional installments forthcoming later this year.

Let’s embrace our milestone to look back and reconnect with the people who came before us.  To learn about their vision, to celebrate the good they did, and to inspire us for what we do today.   Let’s use this time to reflect and remember things were not always easy.  Let’s celebrate the successes.  Let’s share this with our neighbors. Let’s get the word out about Lions and how we enjoy serving the community!

As I look at all of you today, I am delighted to see so many leaders in our community.  When a need in our community presents itself, I’m confident we will find a way to help, just as the Lions during WWII worked with the Rationing Board.  With you all, I know the Easton Lions are in good hands for many more years to come.

Congratulations and enjoy!

Matthew Cioffi
