On Wednesday March 23rd the Easton Lions Club dined on Ultimate pizza during our bimonthly meeting. Beginning with a social and a chance to purchase Queen of Hearts raffle tickets, the Club moved on to its 5 Point Opening with Gerry Denault leading the Pledge of Allegiance, Fran Clifford opening the first notes of the “Song of America,” Lynn Kingsbury with an Invocation, and two special guests sharing the Thought of the Day – “If those that do little did more, those that do a lot, would have time to do more” – by West Bridgewater Lions Club President Jerry Lawrence and the Lions Toast – “Not above you, not below you, but with you” by Brockton Lions Club Treasurer Tobias Cowan.
After member introductions, the Club was serenaded by our state auditor, Suzanne Bump, accompanied by Joey Sheehan and her band to the tune of “The Wild Rover” changing the lyrics to announce her decision to not seek a 4th term as our state auditor with lyrics like…
So go home to your families,
think about what I’ve done.
I’m sure you’ll agree
it’s too bad I won’t run.
I’ve given you three terms
but I won’t give you four,
and so in fall you’ll vote
for a new state auditor! And it’s no, nay, never,
Suzanne Bump
no, nay, never no more
will I play the big spender,
No, never, no more!
