Marilyn Henderson AARP Andrus Award

Easton Lion Marilyn Henderson, of North Easton was named AARP Massachusetts’ 2014 Andrus Award winner for her exceptional volunteer work in the community. The award is named for AARP’s founder Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus and is given to a volunteer who most exemplifies her motto of “to serve, not to be served.” Marilyn was bestowed the honor because of the countless hours she gives to a variety of organizations in Easton, her dedication toward serving others and her belief that community service is important. This year’s award was presented to Marilyn on Wednesday September 24th at Frothingham Hall, 15 Barrows Street, North Easton at 10:00am.

Marilyn was nominated by Nancy Sullivan and chosen from 18 applicants. In addition to the flowers and the award, AARP wrote a big check in the amount of $1500 to be donated to an organization of Marilyn’s choice. Marilyn chose the Easton Council on Aging and they were grateful to be the recipient.
