Reindog parade 2016

Reindog parade 2016On January 11, 2017, the winners of the Holiday Festival 2016 Reindog Parade were presented their awards at the Easton Lions’s Club first meeting of the new year.  Gus Arns again made some classic awards with dog bones mounted on carved wood backs.  This year the 2016 Reindog Parade which was sponsored by the Easton Women of Today.  The reindogs tagged on to the end of the Holiday Parade Sunday of the Lions Club annual Holiday Festival held this year December 3rd and 4th. The dog owners competed for the “Best Dressed Dog” and the “Best Dressed Alike” (dog and owner). The judges had a difficult time picking the winners because of the creative outfits that the dogs were sporting. There were 38 dogs competing for the prizes.

The winners of the “Best Dressed Dog” were – 1st place Hunter Phelps and his dog Bruno. Second place went to Hanna Jennings and her dog Little Ricky. Third place was won by Carol Kelly and her dog Sophie.

In the “Best Dressed Alike” first place was won by Sandra Smart and her dog Roxy. Second place went to Nancy Bates, and her dog Trinity. Third place was won by Victoria Bert and her dog Chloe.

Gus Arns said, “To be there in the staging area where the dogs and their owners gather, is really rewarding. The dogs and their owners get to meet one another. This year it was quite cold waiting for the parade to start and it may have reduced the number of dogs competing but it didn’t seem to affect the spirit of those who were there.”

The Easton Lions wish to thank the “Easton Women of Today” for their help sponsoring and organizing the Reindog parade.
