Matthew Cioffi, Easton Lions President 2016-2017 at Holiday Festival. As 2016 comes to end, I want you to know that it has been an exceptional honor for me to serve with you all.

The holiday from Thanksgiving through little Christmas are truly a magical time for me.  It’s a time to be with family and friends; a time to give of ourselves; a time to thank others; a time to embrace our diversity.  Most importantly it is a time to reflect, to remember and prepare for the new year.

One of my favorite mantras is “Let peace begin with me” from the song “Let There Be Peace on Earth” by Jill Jackson and Sy Miller in 1955.   It reminds me that change must come from within to make our communities a better place. Looking back a couple years when Kevin asked me to serve as president, I said “No, that’s too far outside my comfort zone!”.  In that moment, I was frozen.  I could not “let it go”.  After a little soul searching, I realized there’s something that the Easton Lions had that no other Lions Club in the world would ever have.  That something is – All of You!

You all make serving as a Lion a joy!  When I need a helping hand, you’re there to lift me up and nudge me along.  When I start to veer off course, you let me know; I listen and change.  It is through our diversity and unique mix of people that makes our club work so well.  Being a Lion is a special honor.  I am thankful to be part of such a great group of women and men.  Thank you for being you and serving with me as a Lion.

In this holiday season, whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or another tradition, I wish you and your families a peaceful and joyous holiday!

God Bless and cheers to all,

Matthew Cioffi
